RF Service Engineer – Contract Diagnostics & Repair

RF test equipment repair and diagnostics bench

RF-Labs is looking for an experienced service engineer or independent repair specialist who can diagnose and repair professional RF and electronic test equipment on a case-by-case contract basis.

This is not a full-time employee role. We are building a trusted pool of technical partners for individual repair jobs: one instrument, one diagnosis, one agreed scope of work at a time.

What We Need Help With

We handle used RF and test & measurement equipment from manufacturers such as Keysight, Agilent, Rohde & Schwarz, HP, Anritsu and similar OEMs. Some units need functional checks only; others require fault finding, module-level diagnostics, calibration-related verification, or component-level repair.

Typical work may include:

  • initial fault diagnosis and repair feasibility assessment,
  • bench troubleshooting of RF signal generators, spectrum analyzers, VNAs, power supplies, DAQ units and RF accessories,
  • repair of power supply sections, front panels, displays, attenuator paths, RF chains, synthesizer sections or control boards where practical,
  • verification after repair with documented test results,
  • clear recommendation when repair is not economically sensible.

How Cooperation Works

Cooperation is arranged per device. Before each job we agree the instrument, symptoms, diagnostic scope, expected turnaround and commercial terms. If the unit is repairable, we agree the repair scope before further work continues.

The model is intentionally flexible:

  • contract work per individual device,
  • diagnostics and repair priced case by case,
  • remote pre-assessment possible when photos, error logs or test results are available,
  • hands-on work arranged depending on location, shipping practicality and equipment type,
  • no requirement to take every job – we match work to your expertise.

Who This Fits

This opportunity is best suited for an engineer who has already worked with laboratory, production or service-bench RF equipment and understands the realities of older professional instruments: obsolete parts, option-dependent behavior, calibration limits and repairs that are sometimes not worth doing.

Useful experience includes:

  • repair or service background with RF/microwave test equipment,
  • ability to read service manuals, schematics and diagnostic procedures,
  • practical bench skills: soldering, measurement, fault isolation, ESD-safe handling,
  • access to suitable diagnostic tools for at least part of the work,
  • clear written communication in English or Polish,
  • honest judgment about repair risk, cost and feasibility.

Equipment Examples

The current RF-Labs inventory includes instruments such as Rohde & Schwarz signal generators and spectrum analyzers, Keysight and Agilent network analyzers, HP/Agilent power supplies, RF switch boxes, DAQ units, power sensors and passive RF accessories.

We do not expect one person to cover every platform. Deep experience with a narrower set of instruments is more useful than broad but shallow coverage.

How To Apply

Send a short technical introduction to hello@rf-labs.eu. Include the types of instruments you have repaired, brands or model families you know well, your location, and how you prefer to work on contract jobs.

If you have examples of previous repair work, test reports, workshop capability or references, include them. Do not send confidential customer information.
